Over £200.00 for an AHC is extortionate. It's about time a standard charge was introduced, since it seems like a licence for vets to print money at the moment.
Where have you seen it for £99.00?
Our vet advised me a year ago that it would cost around £100.00, yet now are charging around £170.00, I suspect because they can.
The Pet Passport system seems like a wonderful thing now, doesn't it?
Look at: animal health certificate.online They charge £99.00 for first AHC and £75.00 thereafter if you go again. They do liaise with your vet and all seems genuine.

Web Link believe this place has been spoken about before on here.
One issue mentioned was that if picking up on way to ferry there is no parking, or next to no parking, at their office.

How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
You still have to go to the surgery in Dover. The website says:
Scan, Sign & Travel
When you arrive at our surgery to collect your AHC we will scan and verify your pet’s microchip and witness you signing the declaration. We are conveniently located near the Eurotunnel Terminal and the Port of Dover for your onward travel to the EU.
They might say 'conveniently located' but the parking is an issue, more so if towing or driving large motorhome.

Sorry blueexpo97, I posted at the same time so I didn’t see your helpful point about parking. It had seemed from the OP that the whole process could be done online & I just wanted to highlight that it’s not.
Abbeywell Vets in Folkestone do a similar deal and come highly recommended but again there's a parking problem if you've got a large motorhome or caravan, ok if you've just got a car there's parking at the front or round the back
Long story, we had a nightmare and were refused travel as our vet filled the form in wrong. Good Friday and no vets available with the correct licence in Kent so had to get new forms couriered to us from Yorkshire to Folkstone and travel a day late.
We found out when we finally got to France that there is a new version of a pet passport that we can use. It must be purchased in France/eu from a vet and costs approximately €60 but once you have that it works the same as the old pet passport so no ridiculously long health certificate needed or expense for the certificate.
We didn't buy one as our girl is elderly and it was very sadly her last trip abroad but we spoke to lots of English who have bought one and confirmed it is so much easier and cheaper.
So, hopefully you will only need the health certificate once and then back to a similar system to we had before if you buy the new pet passport while you are away

Is it really that easy, I’m not so sure.
It really is that easy for some people, but more so in Spain than in France. However, friends have just successfully got a French pet passport for their dogs, issued by the vet they usually visit for worming treatments. BUT they do have a French address. Those without a French address may find it more difficult because most vets insist that the passport can only be issued when the pet has been registered on the national chip identity databases, which is called ICAD - and this requires an address in France. Some also insist that the person applying for the pet passport has been in France for three months - which excludes most holiday-makers.
We have an address we could use in France, will ask at the vets we use this year.

We were actually cheaper this year, I think he had done a few more since last year(we were his first)and was a bit quicker with it.
£182 for the two of them.

I paid 180 GBP for my dog's AHC today 09 May 2023.
I shall stay longer in Europe next year.
