we are travelling early in the morning to vallon, we have allowed two sops on the way, we like lac d orient but feel we may get further on the road, so possibly somewhere between dijon and macon, has anyone got any hidden gems, 3 adults looking for a site with bar, cafe, restaraunt maybe a pool and maybe on a lake or river for a bit of fishing ?

Macon would be good for you, it has all those things. If it's too far, there's Tournus, no pool, but on river, and easy walk to town for cafes etc.

Remember Tournus has the community swimming pool next door.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Or there's Beaune, a couple of sites near there/in the town. Look at the reviews on here.

Camping Les Voiles de Laives fits your bill and is nicely situated near to the autoroute. It isn't listed on UKCS unfortunately, but if you stay there please list it and do a review. I'm surprised it's not on here as it is a popular stop-over site and is Open All Year.

Just a heads up that Bison Fute (official french traffic info) are forecasting heavy traffic and possible jams on the A6 between Paris and Lyon on Friday so perhaps best to get past Lyon today or leave it until Saturday.

Steve, when are you travelling? The Rhone Valley (and its campsites) is very busy during early July and August, so if you're definitely going that way be prepared to ring ahead to make sure sites have a pitch.

Yes, and we'll be back at Leucate soon! It's not far from us, so next time you're down that way let me know.
