I have used Red Pennant for many years and also Mayday Green Flag. My current policy ends early June, so I'm looking at alternatives.
What has anybody used to replace Red Pennant?   I know that Mayday could cover the car/van but I can't see anywhere that the cover can be more than 31 days or have I missed something in the small print?
I have Nationwide Flexplus so I could rely solely on that BUT I am very wary of the quality of the AA cover -especially abroad. Has anybody actually needed to call for AA help in France or Italy - and again there doesn't seem to be any mention of time limit on the AA section of the general policy - I know that the holiday insurance can be extended at some cost.
Any help/info/constructive comment would be welcomed.

The Caravan and Motorhome Club still offers overseas insurance. It comes in two halves (a) for vehicle breakdown and recovery. (b for personal travel and medical insurance.   They both seem reasonably comprehensive to me and single trip policies can be up to 90 days.

What are your objections to continuing to insure with them? I did notice a maximum age of 79 which will stymie some people .But perhaps you have spotted something else that I missed.

When I rang they were very vague about extended trips and/or annual cover and there was no mention at all about 'personal travel and medical insurance; plus no quote was available because the first trip was 'too far away'..... Maybe they have sorted things out a bit more - any other call may well be called for.
thanks for your reply.

There has been a lot of discussion on FB about this. Currently people don't seem to be clear about repatriation and breakdowns/ repatriation when travelling with animals. We have had excellent experiences with Red Pennant on both counts. Also there is a maximum outfit size - 7m I think, which rules out a lot of motorhomes.

There have been a lot of suggestions for alternative services, but each one seems to have people who have fared well and others who have not been so happy.

When I phoned the new service(Mayday) for a quote I asked about our dogs and was told 'we won't leave your animals behind'.
I could only get a rough quote as it was more than 30 days before or trip.

I have looked at two other places and the Mayday quote is the cheapest. I'm just not sure, I don't have the comfort blanket feeling that I did with Red Pennant.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
