Very interested in this crossing now that they have pet friendly cabins, but wondering whether the discount is still available this year and what part of the booking it applies to.
Is it the total cost (passengers, car, caravan, pets, cabin) or just part (eg. passengers and car)?
Also I know you have to contact them by phone for the discount, but do you have to pay the full cost of the booking there and then, and is there any cost for amending the booking before travel?

We booked a return crossing back from Dieppe a couple of years ago with the 20% discount. It's not applied to cabins and pets, see this copied from website:
A reduction of 20% is available on the Newhaven-Dieppe route for passengers with a disability, students between the age of 18 to 27, young people between the age of 18 to 25 and seniors over the age of 60 years.
Passengers will need to be the lead passenger and present proof of age, student card or disability card at the port and the discount applies to the crossing only and does not include cabins or pets.
All bookings must be made by telephone on +44 33 058 787 87 or at the ferry terminal.
We had to pay in full at time of booking. As for amendments I don't know; might be best to ring them and ask, it seems to depend on type of ticket.
I didn't know they have pet friendly cabins! This is our crossing of choice, but this year I have already booked tunnel, as we will have our dog with us.
Humph!!
------------- Freedom is a light caravan and an open road.
Our dogs are no longer here, but I imagine that they would have hated kennels. They were fine in the car when we took them both to Ireland. They are as different as we are.

Thank you Ina - I looked for the information on the website but must have missed it.
Not unexpected that pets and cabins are excluded from the discount, but every little helps!
At that rate, the cost for the dogs and the pet-friendly cabin will be more than for us, the car and caravan.
Unfortunately the cabin is non-negotiable as although the dogs would be very happy staying in the car, one of them has epilepsy with fairly frequent but unpredictable fits, so we can't leave him unattended for any length of time.
