Received a letter today from Bip&Go referring to a letter they say they sent on 17/03/21(we never received it) in which they tell us that they are withdrawing the facility to pay the bills by credit card.
We have until the end of May to send them bank account details for them to set up a direct debit or we can send them the doofer back and cancel the account or keep the doofer but send them €30 to cancel the account.
Has anybody else had this? Not seen it mentioned anywhere.
We’ve had the account well over 10 years

Interesting kenren, been with Bip&Go since 2008, not had any communication from them, we last used our petite tag back in 2019.
Maybe it’s a ploy to get U.K. customers to move over to saneftollinguk although I think they are now known as emovis, although I don’t think they let you use Credit Card payment either.
We also have the APRR tag, which takes Credit Card, I like using the Credit Card (Halifax Clarity), as it is almost two months after the event that payment is due.
Yep it's on another Forum from March someone who's had an account for 17 years, then other account holders posted about having the same letter.
It's not a scam according to all the contributors.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Think I’ll keep it going and send them the bank details. It’s really convenient to be able to call into one of their offices in northern France if anything goes wrong or to get a replacement. Much easier than trying to do it all by post
Let us know how you get on kenren, it will be interesting to see if they accept U.K. bank account details.
We got our APRR tag a few years back, by just popping into the APRR office, at the autoroute exit for Chalon Sur Saone as we were overnighting at the nearby “Premier Classe” hotel that night, they did it all there and then and just took my CC details.
Although I noticed a couple of years ago, that the APRR office there has now gone.

They have sent a form asking for the bank BIC and IBAN so I guess they are happy to do so. What I’m wondering is what our UK bank might charge for setting it up

Yep, I have just had the letter as well dated 7th May, interesting that they bothered to print it in English on the back, strange that they are moving away from CC payment, in this modern age it seems a bit of a backward step.
I never received the alleged 17th March letter either.
Mad that you can pay with CC at the Peage but not via an account.
If it’s just like a normal DD I can’t see a problem with your bank handling it for zero charge, but I would find out if there is a currency conversion charge.
I might use my Metro Bank account as they don’t charge for currency conversion.
At least I still have my APPR Tag, which still accepts CC payment as far as I am aware.
Just been online to look at my BiP&Go account and there is no mention of this change, I would have thought that they would have used the modern medium known as the internet to make this communication to account holders like myself.
Anyway there is a contact message box within the account detail, so I have advised Bip&Go that I have complemented and returned there SEPA DD mandate form, and that due to COVID-19 there may be a delay in the post, and the 31st May deadline could be missed.
I will be advising my CC provider not to accept any further charges from Bip&Go should they attempt to retrieve the €30 for the tag, which I am sure I don’t owe them as I paid for the tag on initial set up 13 years ago, although I am on my third tag from them, the latest being the petite tag which is smaller and uses a different style windscreen mount to the original.
I, too, have an APRR tag linked to my credit card. In fact, I got my Halifax Clarity card specifically for overseas payments, so if they also go down this route I shall probably resort to using the credit card at the payage as previously.

Thanks for this thread. It reminded me to check my account with ATMB, which I haven’t used since June 2019. There was a little flag telling me that my credit card details were about to expire. Renewal by Visa was OK, so whenever we do get to travel in France again, there shouldn’t be any nasty surprises at the tollbooth.

I have had this letter from Bip & Go. You will not be able to set up a SEPA direct debit with your UK bank unless you have a Euro account. My bank, HSBC, offered me a Euro account if I wished to take advantage.
I have since got an ATMB tag using my Halifax Clarity Card.
Yep, Metro Bank gave me all the SEPA details so that was not an issue, we use the APPR for the outgoing journey and Bip&Go for the return, I guess the only good thing about usin DD, you don't have to be concerned about it going out of date and find the tag does not work.
Still better than using emovis I would argue.
Yep Robbie, I guess Metro Bank personal accounts are geared up for the € as we use it for cash from ATM’s in France with no currency conversion or transaction charges added.
The IBAN number that Metro Bank gave me is a 14 digit number including letters with my normal bank account number tagged on the end so a 20 digit number in total.
Could be a number of reasons why they are moving away from credit card payment. The trouble with credit cards is that the expiry date and CVV number need updating at regular periods and perhaps they have to chase people too often because of a failed payment. Also credit cards are needing and increased amount of authorisation these day, sometimes with confirmation by text. Just a thought?
Yep David, it will be interesting to see if APRR and AMTB ditch CC payment as well, does not bother me really at the end of the day, you still have to pay the tolls.
I would not sign up to saneftollinguk or emovis as they are known, they seem to have lots of extra little charges going on, that you don’t get with Bip&Go even though they are both part of SANEF.
OK the emovis charges don’t amount to that much more, but it’s the principle in that why should U.K. motorists pay more than they should.
To my mind, anyone who signs up to emovis needs there bumps feeling.
