Actually, change of plan this end, but thanks for the offer. We've found that we can cross for about £150 less by going Newhaven Dieppe. It only adds about an hour to our journey in France.
If anyone is interested, DFDS are doing a standard crossing (ie car only) early in the year for £49 each way and they are still giving a 20% pensioner discount. It's a no brainer!
------------- Freedom is a light caravan and an open road.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

Depends on your journey. It usually takes me a good 8 hours from the Dordogne to the Normandy coast so I'm ready for a meal and a few hours kip before the 4/5 hour journey to Sheffield. Hence we usually cross Caen - Portsmouth coming back to England.
Coming back to France we like Portsmouth - St Malo. 11 hour crossing so meal, drink, good nights sleep and only an additional half hour drive.
