I’ve just received a message from Eurotunnel to say the Aug dates are out. I nearly fainted when I saw the price! The outbound journey will cost the same as our whole trip this yr. They are asking for over £800 for the return journey . What has happened? I usually book early but I’ve never seen such over inflated prices… I’m going for a lie down! 🤦🏽♀️
------------- 2026
Various weekends, weather and time permitting
April - Yorkshire and Yorkshire
June - Wiltshire and Oxfordshire
Autumn - North and Scotland
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
I've recently converted my Tesco vouchers for Eurotunnel vouchers, planning to use it May/June. Haven't worked up the courage to look at August On the basis of those prices, I think I'd better book sooner rather than later for May/June, prices still fairly reasonable.....
I think Eurotunnel has dynamic pricing so much more expensive at peak times. Can you play around with departure/return times to get a better price? The CMC claim to offer a 10% discount on tunnel crossings if you are a member, only problem is that you can only amend via the Club and there is an admin fee. Direct with the tunnel there is usually no charge unless moving to a more expensive crossing, can't be many of those at £800
We use ET at least once a year with just a car and found the prices had almost doubled from 2020 ( last time we used it ) to now. This year we had problems with the car so had to fly out with the airline that doesn’t care , we got our hotel refunded but ET gave us a voucher to use within 12 months ,unfortunately you couldn’t book that far in advance on their site so have opted to go in June.
It’s certainly becoming a captive audience with them and I think this is an opportunity for the ferry companies to strike back with say at least 50% cheaper fares than ET.
But yeah 800 quid is certainly eye watering!
Same crossing as this year up £78 for 2023, which all things considered I don't think is too bad.
A few more Tesco vouchers will cover it.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Never knew ET offered insurance. We struggle with OH existing medical.
Is it a different area to call or will they quote when booking a crossing??
They offer it when you book a return. It has the distinct advantage of no requirement to state pre-existing conditions and covers up to age 85

We used Eurotunnel insurance for our trip this year! We discovered how cheap the insurance was (for those who are a little older) back in April when we arranged a short notice trip in order to get the caravan serviced.
We then had two return trips with Ryanair, and were surprised again at how reasonable the price of their insurance was compared to comparison sites.
Like Stuart we had no questions to answer, and basically the only proviso that I could see was basically that unless your condition was terminal, and/or your doctor didn't think you should travel, you could get cover.
We are planning a probable 3 trips this year. Is it simpler to organise travel insurance each time on this basis, rather than find annual insurance? We are both in our 70s, with one of us with several complaints. We have booked DFDS Newhaven-Dieppe for April, but don't know yet which crossings/companies we will use for the later ones.

It was for us, because multi-trip with up to 90 days stay, was going to cost a fortune. We actually had four different policies this year, one with Eurotunnel, two with Ryanair, and one 90 days with Staysure. The total for all was less than our multi-trip in previous years. I doubt we will use Eurotunnel again this year, because their Frequent Traveller crossings have ended and prices have risen dramatically. We will probably just do one 90 day trip by ferry - looks like DFDS Newhaven to Dieppe at the moment, and then several flights with Ryanair.
