That news got me interested, as I'm in process of sorting our trip to France next June for me and couple of mates, and Le Havre is a potential alternative to our current options if the price is right.
BUT! There's always a 'but' that you fall over on closer examination, this for me is the only option sailing time of Le Havre to Portsmouth at 5.31pm - 10.00pm! Once we hit Portsmouth at 11.00pm time we've disembarked and cleared immigration etc., the 3 of us need to head off in different directions, I'm heading back to London in my car, so that's OK(ish!), but the other two are heading to Gatwick for a flight back to Spain and Eastleigh by public transport - that is not going to happen in any convenient/cost effective way at that time of night! The mate from Eastleigh has work the next morning as well, so not the best timing to accommodate that either!
Shame, always good to have alternative that allow flexibility on schedules, but really not a sailing schedule that works for us, so back to Newhaven or Caen routes and earlier daytime crossings.
