I know lots of us love looking around French markets.
It can be hard to find out the days when markets are held in the locality you're staying, and if there is a list in the campsite reception it's often only the largest local markets or the most 'touristy'. A good guide is a book called 'Tarragon and Truffles' by Anne Gregg, available at the moment from Amazon from just £2.99.
It has sections for each 'Department' of France, with details of what the author considers the best markets in the area (I don't always agree) but in the back of each section is a list of all the markets alphabetically. I've gone through ours and highlighted each 'day' with a particular colour, so that I can quickly locate all the Thursday markets, for example.
It's definitely worth buying as a copy to keep in the caravan if you holiday regularly in France.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
There is also this website which gives details of (most) Vide Greniers (Attic Sales or Car Boot Sales).
https://vide-greniers.org/11-Aude
Seach by 'Department'.
Some of these can be a whole village, where most of the streets are closed, and almost everyone has a stall outside. Most is 'tat' of the worst sort, but occasionally you find really interesting stuff.
Worth keeping as a favourite/bookmark for reference when you're in an area!
I've had this book ( the late Anne Greggs) for many years. it is a great reference guide as you are driving through France! We have been known to veer off the route when I've found a market nearby! It's good. Because it doesn't just cover big markets but also much smaller town markets . We never go to France without it. I'm now going to have a look at the vide Geniez site Val suggested ! Love them too!!
Thank you Val (and for all the other very helpful info you share)
Have just bought a new copy from ebay for £4.49 (cheaper than Amazon as there it's £2.99 + p&p)
We've had ours for some time, but it gets left in the caravan! When we've been down in the Aude twice this year I've really missed it - so wanted to get another to keep at home for our non-caravanning jaunts! Whilst browsing I realised that I should post a mention of it on here, as it's something we find essential!
thanks for the useful info Val, particularly as I,m on my way to the Loire Valley on Sunday (slightly concerned about the gales). If ever I have the good fortune to bump into you, I owe you a drink, cheers
You may do JJG! Our holidays are getting longer and longer, and we're getting the wanderlust again! We're just waiting to hear when our caravan (in France) is going to be serviced, then we're booking a ferry and off!
Thanks for the info, its always nice to have something to refer to for markets and the vide grenier. We tend to find them by accident rather than design so its useful to know in advance.
Just a reminder of why we love the French markets and why they seem so much more appealing than ours. Market at Montignac.

I bought this book from eBay too. £4 something and marked at £14.99! Haven't had a chance to look through it yet but it looks good. Thanks for the recommendation.
Sent for mine, thank you. It will save lots of guesswork online before we travel, we don't have much internet access whilst away, and never know where we'll end up.
