Hi all
Just found out there is possible problems with P&O dover/calais.
I booked months ago through the Caravan Club an escorted trip to South France and received all confirmations. Looking forward to the break.
However I mentioned in our village pub and someone mentioned that there are big problems (cancellations) etc. Our sailing is 5:50 on the 30th May and am slightly worried when I get there there is no boat for us.
Does anyone out there know or can help.
Thanks

I'm truly astounded you've only just become aware of P&Os problems, it's been all over the news for weeks, even the Government has become involved with the scandal surrounding them!!!!
Back to your concern, don't ask us, ask P&O, nothing like info from the horses mouth, rather than opinion and speculation from well meaning but possibly ill informed or out of date folks.
Monty I was aware of problems, they made hundreds of redundancies and ships put in dock. I was under the impression all was ok and back to normal sailings now. My wife emailed P&O they said we had not booked through P&O and was told to go through CAMC as they are the provider. They said they are not sure as it keeps changing day to day.

Email CAMC if you’re concerned, you have a contract with them.
If you book a package holiday to Corfu, you don’t worry about the airplane being grounded, because the tour company must provide the holiday as described.

I think you have your answer there! NOBODY knows!
Shocking situation that it is, as pointed out, your contract is with CAMC, it's their responsibility to keep you updated, even if only passing on second hand information from P&O. I don't see anywhere on CAMC website that has current sailing status, so I'm guessing you'll be making phone calls on day of departure! I'm not impressed with that, and I'm not the one who's made a booking with them!
If you check P&O website you will see there are 10 crossings on May 30th. There is a 17.50 crossing if that’s what you mean. I’d get there a couple of hours early & you may well get an earlier crossing.

This was about a month ago now. We saw on the TV that there was enormous problems at Dover port. On the motorway there were many miles of lorries using hard shoulder and first lane. We were horrified it would take days or weeks to clear this backlog. We found our 1st campsite on outskirts of dover and set up. Then we decided to go into Dover for a face to face. It was grid locked so walked to the outside gates only to turned away. We decided to call into a pub and have something to eat. Camc and P&O was caleld many times and had no answer for me. We got back to the van and get some sleep and woke at 5 to get to terminal for just before 6. 3.1/2 hours before our due sailing. I could not believe it we were second in the queue and put on the next boat. There was no traffic jams this happened through the night well done to all ferry operators. Things were looking hopeful.

One of the biggest problems with booking through the CAMC is that you can't call them outside office hours, or at weekend. Sometimes it's a hard lesson when things go wrong, and you have no one to speak to about it.

That is also a problem with DFDS, there is no-one, outside of office hours and weekends, to answer a phone call - - not even to book or amend a crossing.
