OK ... here we go ...
What's the best satnav allowing for towing a caravan in Europe?
One that won't send you down dead-end, narrow lanes or non existant roads.

Please don't bother to respond with the merry japes of:
The wife with an atlas.
A written list based on four hours of careful research.
Memory
et al

Be useful if it had campsites (I know I could add Archie's)
Cheap petrol stations indicated?
etc etc etc

I await relevant and irrelevant responses with equal interest!

Thanks

I have no caravan experience but found this
https://www.hortoncommon.co.uk/sat-navs-for-caravans-and-motorhomes/

We've always used a TomTom in France. It's usually OK but there was one occasion when it was adamant there was a road to a campsite where a road had never been.

The suggestion of adding a route you've checked with googlemaps seems a good one - it can be added to the TomTom but alternatively you could add it to your mobile. You could plan the routes in the comfort of your own home and then follow them once there.

Whatever the satnav, make sure it comes with regular map updates.

Especially in France with the enormous road building projects in progress,it is essential.

For campsites you still seem to be ahead using Archie's as an extra POI.

I use Garmin Nuvi which has options for routes which should avoid the buttock clenching deviations of some routes

We used TomTom throughout Europe but a few years gone by since we last went. Never had a problem with routes, you could put in dimensions for motorhomes or caravans, choose to avoid tolls etc.

It had links to ACSI and a couple of other listings for campsites. Even had Aldi and Lidl stores and routes to same, places of interest etc.
I think there was the odd occasion it didn't recognise a road or roundabout but overall it was brilliant.

No sorry I don't, we let it go with the van when we sold. But as we bought it 7-8 years ago it's probably not available now unless you get an older second hand model.
Maybe others can rate current TomTom as to whether it has same functions.

We use an Aguri caravan/motorhome model. Been through UK, France and Spain with no issues. Has campsites pre loaded. It's also a dash cam.
