We are making our way from Millau to Spain and will next stop at Pezenas. Does anyone have any suggestions for a beach side site where you can also walk easily to the town/village/few bars and restaurants? We don’t want to move the motor home once parked and can’t use public transport with our dog. No bicycles either. Just thought someplace might occur to someone. No need for a pool though it’s always nice.

Lots of options at Argeles sur mer. Camping Bouix is centrally placed for town and only a short walk to the beach, but there are many other possibilities.
Hi Lizzie, this site near Pezenas might suit your needs: Mèze. While it has limitations ( see reviews on here) its situation is brilliant, on the edge of the lagoon. While it’s not a beach as such, being quite muddy, it’s used by dog walkers for exercise. Supermarket and filling station. just over the road; lots of seafood stalls and a bakery next to them. About 15 minutes stroll into town with market and pretty harbour with restaurants, and a swimming beach.

Thanks Morepints. I was looking for a beach site after our stay in Pezenas. Think at Pezenas we will try the municipal as we can walk into town. Meze also looks worth a stop so could add that into the mix! The harbour sounds good. After the towns, I fancy finding a nice beach site where we could walk into a restaurant or two or preferably a town/village or whatever. There are so many beach sites to choose from. I’m assuming dogs are not allowed on the beach but that’s not an issue as he can stay in the van / oh rarely spends longer than 15 minutes on the beach! Whereas I can while away an hour or two sea swimming and lazing around.
I’ve just checked: the ‘beach’ in front of the campsite is a permitted Cani-plage, allowing the pooch to swim. The town beaches aren’t, but do have cafés/bars adjacent, where dog and hubby could be stationed with a cold beer while you disport yourself in the water. https://www.ville-meze.fr/cani-plage-une-plage-pour-les-toutous/
The tambourin mentioned is a local game of long range tennis, played by hitting the ball with a drum. The court is just in front of the campsite.
We went to Meze once but were never tempted to go back - my memory is of a line of shops along a busy main road. But touring by car from the inland Loupian site we thought Bouzigues just along the coast was far more attractive. Is there a campsite there.which would suit motorhomers ?

Thanks for the idea Netherton, I will take a look. I am really looking for a coastal site after Pezenas. The only place we have stayed along this coast was 15 years ago at camping Neptune which we loved but our set up is different now - no car/bikes plus a dog! Do you have any recommendations for a site with beach access also near restaurants/village/town?
Sorry Lizzie. Difference in lifestyle is too great. You want beach sites for Motorhome and dog but we had neither of those so would always stay a little way inland and drive out for lunch. Now if you were to ask me about good lunchtime restaurants in Nîmes, Uzes, or Narbonne I could be much more help. Have a good journey.
Les Sablons, Portiragnes Plage. Takes ACSI at the moment, only 25/30 mins from Pezenas. We’ve just stayed at Camping Les Armandiers just outside Pezenas at Castelnau-des-Geurs. Lovely site, very peaceful, clean sanitaire with plenty of hot water, lovely pool & great views

Bit late for now but for future reference we stayed at Tamarissiere Plage, Camping La Tamarisserie. Nearest big place would be Agde. Dogs very welcome, huge dog friendly sandy beach right on site. Bar and food on site. Decent clean facilities. Small parade of bars & restaurants outside the camping also a little ferry to go across the inlet to a suburb of Agde with shops and waterside bars & restaurants.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
