We have a Safefill LPG bottle in our caravan and wondered whether it will be widely possible to refill it in petrol stations in France, or whether only vehicle mounted tanks are allowed to be filled, as is the case in many places over here.

You may struggle to fill up in France as many fuel stations insist on external filling points. We last topped up 3 years ago at an unattended petrol station and previous to that a forcourt attendant insisted on doing it for us in Besancon. You will require a disc adapter to top up.
Thanks for the reply.
I think we’ll go with plan B - our French gas canister (Butagaz) and associated fittings. Just thought we might be able to get away without swapping it over.
On our last 6 week trip, we started with a full Safefill10kg bottle and a backup 6kg calor bottle but never needed the calor. We used Aires for 4 weeks and campsites for 2 weeks.
On filling back home we used 16Lts.

3 years ago I filled my safefill bottle in E Leclerc with no problems. You will need an adapter which you can get from eBay or some Caravan dealers.
I use the mylpg.eu
