As it is near impossible to buy a refillable gas bottle in the UK does anyone know if there is an equivalent bottle in France or Germany? Thanks in advance

Firstly, it's only really Calor that are having issues with supply and refills, and mainly in certain sizes that impact caravaners/campers the most. It also seems to be quite a regional thing, where some areas are more affected than others.
Flogas have comparable cylinders and a decent network of agents, albeit with slightly higher per/Kg prices and different (but still widely available) couplings.
There is a inherent problem with exchange cylinders (as opposed to DIY refillable at LPG garage forecourts etc. types) in that they tend to be unique to each country and you can't exchange in a different country. The only exception being Campingaz which is Europe wide, but with the disadvantage of tiny cylinders and high cost, the biggest Campingaz cylinder is the '907' at 2.72Kg gas content, but a whopping £35 or so per refill in UK, and around 20 odd Euros on the continent.
So in answer to your question as a literal answer, yes France and Germany both have equivalent to Calor cylinders, but not the same in both countries! Each country is also likely to have different brands in competition with each other and as with Calor and Flogas in UK, not necessarily using common couplings. All told there really aren't that many different types of coupling, and some adaptors are available, but touring Europe is a bit of a gas cylinder challenge with little commonality!
Thanks Monty, I was looking to buy a safefill bottle that you can refill in morrisons and at most fuel stations in Europe, however they are really hard to get hold of! I just thought there may be an equivalent in europe?
French caravanners don’t haul water to their caravan in aquarolls and heat it there for showers - so they don’t use the quantities of gas which British caravanners do. All their campsites have electric hook ups and shower blocks and the French use them both. Refill cylinders are not expensive and easily available as Monty said, and as a result there isn’t a demand there for portable Safefill type cylinders.

Hi, I will assume that you are away so long that you will have to buy gas? As caravanners using EHU sites we would not need to buy gas.
As said above it is area dependent but last week I called at a Flo Gas stockist to get a price for the 10kg Gaslight that I use.
Its £49.95 but he has loads in stock-he said about 60, and he also has lots of 6kg propane, cheapest is screw type connector.
Oh interesting, thank you 😊

Be patient and you will come across a Safefill for sale. I think they are also available in Holland. You would need to two different adaptors for continental use. We fill up our 7.5kg Safefill before leaving the UK and it lasts us 4 weeks with plenty to spare as hardly ever use gas when on the continent. Most of our cooking is done on an open fire i.e. BBQ and the rest of the time eating salads or eating out.

Thanks Ian & Roy that sounds encouraging 😊
Make sure that it can fit into your front locker. We had to sell our 10kg as the fit was just a bit too tight however that is a very good price for a 10kg Safefill..

Of course the cylinder will have never been subject to mistreatment, and will have lots of years before it needs to be re-certified etc etc.
I have spent a lot of money on S/H kit over the years but would stay clear of a fibreglass cylinder that I did not know the histiry of.
