Evening all. Coming to the end of a holiday here at SP, our first. Enquiried at the reception desk about maybe reserving a shadier pitch next year. Apparently the site is sold to new owners AMAC and cannot take bookings till November

Really interesting! I’ve just googled AMAC camping and they seem to be a newish company. They are not listing Soleil Plage at the minute but of the 6 sites they are listing we have been to two and were not aware they had had a change of ownership!
Amac is a company owned by Vacalians. They are a huge camping business, operate in 19 countries and turn over 245m euro a year.
ETA They also own Canvas holidays.

And what's left of Camping Cheques!

And rarely does 'corporate ownership' and a manager and his team improve a site. I know of two family owned sites, sold to chains which although stlll ok are just not as good as they used to.
I’m camping on the Dordogne at Beaulieu next week and it crossed my mind the hot weather will mean the water levels will be really low. What’s it looking like at the moment? Thanks
There are patches of gravel sandbanks showing up through the river but it still looked liked a canoe motorway this afternoon so there’s plenty of water to have a lot of fun! We are staying 2km from the river on a tributary river which while not rushing with water still has plenty in it, we expected it to be a bit more dried up to be honest.

Right alongside the the Dordogne between Castelnaud and Beynac. The water is a s low as we've seen for some years with more 'beach' robe seen but it is still fast flowing, plenty o f canoes out today.
There was some pretty heavy rain during the night further up the Dordogne, so levels may have risen a little.
Incidentally if anyone.visits Collonges la Rouge,(which is one of Les Plus Beaux villages) the restaurant Le Cantou is very good for local specialities. We ate there last night and everyone enjoyed their meal, including eighteen month old Jack who had tastes from thirteen plates!
Thanks for the tip Val - despite the number of times we've been down here we've never really been that side of the A20 apart from Rocamadour.
Given its proximity to our new home I think we'll be doing a fair bit of exploring over that side. Am still amazed at how drop dead gorgeous (and quiet) much of rural France is.
