Rather than bring the caravan back from France I’m thinking of storing it for 3-4 weeks at a time and then using it again. Maybe just do that 2-3 times over the May to August and then bring it back.

Any suggestions on where to store please?

Wherever you decide to store it, just be aware that most insurers won’t cover a van in storage in France and those that do (just Towergate now, I think) have become very particular about the security of the storage sites.

Many French campsites do short term storage on a daily rate basis. Look for Garage Mort on their price list. The sites you usually use may well do this.

As pointed out if caravan is left unattended away from the place you usually keep it when unused for more than 24hrs then your insurance will not cover it for that period.

Your biggest issue is it being insured while stored in France.

We store ours in France, and have done for about twelve years. We insure through Towergate, and they are quite happy about the storage arrangements for our site. We have had it on the same site since 2016, without issues. It is stored in a secure compound, adjacent to the site, and the owner and his family live on site. The owner, Jerome, will tow our caravan onto a pitch of our choice, when we want to use it, and tow it back into the storage compound at the end of our stay. He sites in in the direction we like it 'parked'. He is very accommodating, and we can phone just twenty-four hours before.

We pay just 185 euros a year, then pay for each night on site. The site accepts the ACSI Card in low season, at 14 euros per night. Peak season says are somewhat more expensive. The site has good toilet blocks, a heated swimming pool, a bar, restaurant and take-away, and access to the Ardeche river for swimming, canoeing, and wild-life watching. The site is about an hour and a half from the Mediterranean, in a beautiful region of France.

The main drawback is that the site has a very short season, from 1st April until about the 9th September so for that reason, and that alone, we are thinking we may move it at the end of this season, so have somewhere which opens a little earlier and stays open until late October.

If you'd like more details please email via the email address on my profile.

Depends on where you want to store it. Our local camp site Camping Maisonneuve St Jory De Chalais (run by Brits Lorna and Russ) keeps a few regulars on site and charge about 200 per year and will tow it out to a pitch of your choice whenever they're open (usually April - Oct) Russ sometimes even washes them as well lol!

We used to keep ours there although Not insured... Then we moved to about 2 miles away and keep it in our garden now
