They might - if they are not busy - but none of us can predict the number of bookings they will have. But the previous ferry on that route is at 8 pm. so you could be hanging around Dover for 4 hours if they say No and send you away. Then you will arrive at Dunkirk in the middle of the night and will have to find somewhere to get some sleep. Have you got somewhere in mind?
As for the Netherlands you will find the campsite at Delft to be very good but crowded and busy. A full fortnight there would try my patience. It seems a pity to stay there for the whole time and not to visit other parts of the country.
DFDS may have an earlier boat to Calais, which for the sake of half hr extra on the road the other side may be preferable to hanging around in Dover.
If they had space on anything earlier they are usually pretty good.
You will find the Netherlands a great place to camp. Very friendly! It’s not a big country so there will be plenty of places to go within reasonable distance.

thanks clarybel it was a toss up either dunkirk or calais so if we could get an earlier crossing to calais it would,nt be a problem we will be setting of from barnsley south yorkshire about 2.00 fri afternoon so its anyones guess on what time we would get to dover even though its only about 250 miles
Ah wish you luck with the drive. You never know how it will go especially the M25 but either a piece of cake or nightmare !
If you come over Dartford Crossing I would say head for M20 rather than M2. Much nicer Road/ Journey.
Don’t be put off by the stories of queuing lorries on M20 heading to Dover . Sadly that’s true, it’s called TAP, however it’s well managed by the police and the outside lane is left free for cars and if a rogue lorry thinks he will jump the queue then he is turned around sharpish at the first roundabout!!
If it’s “Operation Stack” that’s different and closes the M20 and you have to go on the A20. In which case M2 might be better except everyone has the same idea!
Hi Ian, Holland is a great place to holiday. Its a lovely country where camping can seem to be a national pastime and with plenty to see and do.
I have recently been surprised at the increase in the Western channel crossings but, seeing mention of the M25, Friday travel and Dover ferries has made it seem a lot better!
Have a great trip.

Rule number one for a camping trip to The Netherlands - - take bikes with you. We had several trips there pre-covid and it is a lovely place to visit, Delft is a really nice town.
The only odd thing was that it is very difficult to use cash, it seemed to be credit cards for everything. In one shop my wife wanted to buy a dress and the only payment they took was a Discovery c/c, no cash, no Mastercard, no Visa. I got away quite lightly there.
We also got caught out with the Dutch credit card thing. Ordered and enjoyed a meal at a Thai restaurant in Valkenburg but when we went to pay they didn't accept Visa or Master Cards.
Had to rush round town to find a cash machine, which are not as common place as here, and settled up in cash.
We are also looking to go to the Netherlands this summer but the travel restrictions are still quite strict. Hopefully they loosen up so we can go without too much hassle.
------------- I can remember when this was all fields.
It’s a nice site and has a restaurant. Easy walk into town, walks the other way too. The town is lovely but not very big. Has a market but I can’t remember which day. Do try the cod from the market stalls.

All measures about to be dropped in NL . By 25th I think. There was a press conference yesterday.
Fully Vacc. Ok to enter.
Just been looking at Dutch website. My reading is that you will still need a PCR/ANTIGEN/LATERAL test if from outside EU;
“Negative COVID-19 test result needed when travelling to the Netherlands from abroad
Everyone aged 12 and over must show a negative COVID-19 test result if they are travelling to the Netherlands from a country outside the EU/Schengen area. This requirement also applies to people travelling to the Netherlands from a high-risk area in the EU/Schengen area who do not have an EU Digital COVID certificate (DCC) based on proof of vaccination or proof of recovery. You must pay for the test yourself.
Please note: the United Kingdom (UK) is not part of the EU/Schengen area.”
Yes I just read the same.
So need test currently pre departure by the looks of it. Hopefully they soon follow France !
They seem to be completely relaxing most other things.
With no Border control if you drive I might be tempted to play dumb. Show my Covid Pass carry an LFT and offer to do it, if stopped!
A day of all things motorhome and campervan. The show is held both in the main indoor arena and across the grounds. Catering, hot drinks and food options are available. Easy access to the site and free parking included. Win one of five pairs of day tickets
