I cant seem to get a definitive answer from the calls i have made, but does anyone know what the quarantine rules were (prior to the prohibitive current travel restrictions for tourist visits in France)?
We have a couple of holidays booked for France next year with our touring caravan (one including a visit to Switzerland) and I was asked what would happen if my wife or I were to catch one of the Covid variants whilst away and had a positive test?
It got me thinking as to what the rules are for being in a caravan or motorhome if you were on a site in one of those places?
How do you comply with their regulations when you need to get food, fill water containers and empty portable toilets?
Is there any website or information available that we can find the answers to these questions?
Thanks

This was discussed in various topics last year, and any replies were purely speculative.
------------- XVI yes?

The answers I have seen elsewhere range from, oh it won’t happen to me, to say nothing and lie low on a quiet campsite until a self administered test shows negative, phone for supermarket food deliveries to be sent in, phone your travel insurers for advice, phone a British consulate for advice, or phone a doctor and pay to go into a quarantine hotel for the required time. Take your pick.
My view would be that there is no definitive answer. You would just have to wing it. It does appear that for the triple vacced catching Covid is no worse than a mild cold so best bet would be to “use your common sense”.

We have just booked our trip April3 to June 30. As usual the major rip off is the medical insurance costs for the wrinklies who are 80+
Imagine my surprise when I find that the insurance offered by Eurotunnel is miles cheaper than any other quote :
Eurotunnel £375
Good to go £520
Saga £750
RAC £1329
Sainsbury £2080
The Eurotunnel upper age limit is 85 and there is no medical requirements, other than you are fit to travel
I'm only offered combined travel and motor breakdown insurance when I attempt to book crossings with Eurotunnel and it's way more than £375 for 2 adults (in our 60s), for a lesser duration. Am I missing something here?
Stuart, I just tried Eurotunnel insurance again using your dates, 2 adults, vehicle under 11 years old, and it quotes £791 for combined gold cover and £615.75 for silver. No option for just travel insurance.
How did you get £375?

I went for t ravel insurance only. (perhaps available only for Frequent Travellers?) We already have car insurance via Nationwide
My receipt from Eurotunnel
Insurance Cover - Single Trip Travel Insurance
Travel Insurance
Policy Holder: Stuart Gordon Thomas
Insured persons: 2 Adult(s), 0 Child(ren), 0 Infant(s)
Period of cover: Sun 03 Apr 2022 - Thu 30 Jun 2022
Geographical Limit: UK Ireland & Europe
Back in 2015 my insurers quoted a near £100 increase to just under £200. I had seen reference to the Nationwide Flex Plus account on the Martin Lewis website so looked at that and void a product that provided more for less.
The cost then was £10 a month, now £13 so for £156 I get worldwide travel insurance and car breakdown cover.
There is a age related fee but that is charged once not per person.
Their website is very clear and informative so may be worth a look.

Curiouser and curiouser...we too have a FT account but, when I arrange a new booking, it will only offer me the combined policy.
Can I please ask, did you book your crossings and insurance at the same time or was the travel insurance made available retrospectively?

Thank you. However, we too have a Flex Plus account but it seems we're falling to pieces and are both awaiting interventions, so implications for the additional premium this year are grim.
As Stuart says, Eurotunnel calculate charges according to age (of applicants and vehicle) with no requisite for medical specifics. I now just need to discover how to separate travel insurance from the combi package.
Good to see that we're beginning to get travelling again.
However, SGT, your invoice shows Single Trip. Have you booked a return? I had an idea that now that we're not in the EU, that we had to book a return trip within the 90 day ruling.
Am I wrong? Hope so as it would make life easier for our next trip.
