Use the campsite search facility on here, select the area in France where you want to stop and use the filter for "open all year" I wouldn't worry about recommendations, there are not many open at that time of year and you will have to take what you can get, good or bad

What time are you leaving Calais and how far do you want to drive on day one? As Roy says there are few sites open especially on that route - that’s why most winter travellers go via Tours and Poitiers .

Thanks for this Netherton. Sounds like I need to change our journey plans to go via Tours and Poitiers.
Any recommendations?
Arrive Calais around 4pm so not too far on day one.
Thanks.

With that arrival time and getting dark it sounds to me like an hour down the A16 motorway - and overnight at either Camping Fontaine des Clercs at Montreuil or at the popular motorway services at Baie de Somme

Camping La Fontaine de Cloches in Montreul Sur Mer then Les Acacias near Tours followed by either Beau Soleil in Gradignan or Larrouletta in Urrugne. Spanish border and onto the Municipal site in Zaragosa.

You may be better off getting the ferry to Spain than a very long tiring drive. Done it once and never again and that was in the summer.
Why cross at Calais as Caen may be a better option and a shorter drive by over an hour?

If I were to go it would be Portsmouth to St Malo overnight and arriving at 0815.

Saint Malo to Bordeaux 320 miles

Bordeaux to Burgos 280 miles

Burgos to destination.
