Hi, I've looked on the site reviews for this site but they are all several years out of date. I'm wondering if anyone has stayed there recently? We are going there later this month with a touring caravan and awning and have booked a sea view pitch but I'm struggling to find any info on what the pitches are actually like. Is the ground hard, is it grass, how difficult are they to knock tent pegs in? How easy is the access?
Lots of questions but I always panic a bit before we go and start worrying about all the little things.
Appreciate any responses thanks.

A few years since I camped in France (tent) but we always prepared for the worst - ground like concrete - so anything less was pretty easy. Given the high temps in Brittany lately I'd expect the ground to be hard.
Camped with Eurocamp at Chatelet in late May 1998.Main memories are of a hailstorm - access to the beach was by a pretty steep path (we had two kids under 10 at the time) - shop in the village sold excellent oysters and bottles of Muscadet sur lie.
Live in the Dordogne now - hard life but somebodies got to do it.
Thank you...we've camped in a few places in Brittany, last year had a very muddy pitch at a Sandaya site, les deux Fontaines. Will hopefully be OK this year.

Looking at Google Maps, pretty sure we accessed the site via the D13 from Montignac rather than the D19 through town. From memory the route to le Chatelet from town was fairly steep uphill on quite narrow roads.

Regarding pegs for the awning, we always just take metal hard ground pegs (like big nails!) as it's what we use in the UK. It's a pleasant change on French grass pitches when they go in the ground so easily!
Thank you..think I'll purchase some extra hard ground pegs to be on the safe side. Have some for our porch awning but choose a grass pitch when we put up the full awning for longer stays which is what we'll be using in France.
