Last year we were at the castels site in Gigny near Chalon-sur-saone, we met a family towing a trailer tent putting it up at about 5pm, they had started in Cannes at 9am, in crawling traffic and pouring rain, they were exhausted. We always stay in Novotels and Ibis- pre booked on internet for best prices- take a wheelclamp for the trailer. Most of those are safe-ish- but get there early for the best parking spots, so, you'd probably better with a tiny tent for an overnight stop. We dont tow a trailer- but Ive still been up at odd hours looking out of the window-paranoid- awful if everything went in the night.
