She was doing 81 mph in a 56 mph limit? My, that *is* scarey! And on an unfamiliar French backroad? We used to pull that sort of stunt where I grew up on the Welsh border. Some of my schoolchums didn't live to grow up It'd damn stupid to speed like that and there really isn't any excuse.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Same with me - and it stopped me overtaking on three lane roads, even now! Three of my friends were killed in one Dad's small car, on a three lane road - and it was the other driver who was speeding and overtaking. One survived, with only minor injuries (not me). Still makes my hair stand on end, even now - and just worked out it's almost 40 years ago!!! (Gets on high horse!!)
That's exactly the sort of thing I mean, Val. One lad from DH's school was in the flatbed of a landrover talking to his mates through the hole that was the window to the cab. There was a really minor accident and his head ended up in the lap of the guy in the front passenger seat. And a girl from my school thrown through a windscreen about a year before seatbelts became compulsory. I physically can't even put the key in the ignition unless everyone's belted because of her. Some of my son's mates complain but I don't think they know what it was like before we had all these rules.
