Just bought some from Tescos £7 for four (two adult, two child). Now juts have to find room in the car for them :) One less teddy for each child I think!!
We tuck ours under the front seat - and have carried them for years. We put ours under at the front of the front seat, and when our sons came with us, their waistcoats went under the back of the front seat. They were very useful years ago when our Citroen clutch failed on the autoroute just south of Vierzon, and we all felt a whole lot more visible, even behind the safety barrier, with our orange vests on!
OH always carried one because his work takes him on railway lines, and they've had to wear them at work for years and years.
From our local paper today - The law will be introduced from the 1st July. It states that the gilet's must be available in the boot, (it doesn't say they must be in the car, but does say they MUST be donned BEFORE exiting the vehicle onto the road) along with a warning triangle. There will be a 3-month period of grace, whereby you'll be warned by the gendarmes that it's an offence not to have these items. From October 1st there's a €135 fine applicable.
In case of breakdown, you must place the warning triangle not less than 30m away from the rear of the vehicle. If you do not, then another €135 fine will be applicable.
