In 2007, we were charged 25 euro to get on the Norfolkline sailing 2hrs before we where scheduled on the Dunkerque - Dover ferry by  french woman in the Dunkerque office.

2008, we were charged nothing, for an early sailing 2hrs

2009, we were charged nothing, for an early sailing 6hrs before booking,  and nothing for coming home two days early.

Both my wife and I are convinced the woman in 2007 had a nice little scam going.

THEREFORE, if you get charged, question it. ESPECIALLY on the French side.

We just got back this week, and got our booked sailing on return, but when we set of on the Friday 10th July we were booked on the 06:00Hrs Saturday ferry, but due to me getting of work early we got the midnight sailing on the Friday, they let us on (Norfolkline), no extra charge, but I was told that a £65 charge would have been the normal charge for catching the early ferry, fact is that it was so busy they just wanted to get everyone onboard and away, if they had have demanded the £65, I would have called thier bluff, and offered to wait for my booked sailing, whilst holding up the line of traffic!.

We have booked with Norfolkline Dover-Dunkerque on 17th August (2pm crossing) but are now thinking about bringing it forward a day so we can have a longer holiday. What are our chances of turning up a whole day early getting on without paying a surcharge (given that it will be a sunday and will be looking at sailing peak time)?
I turned up 6 hours early 3 weeks ago and got charged £42. Coming back, I turned up 5 hours early and got charged nothing....!!!!!!!
