Try this link to a hotel in Le Mans which is about half way to the Vendee although you may need two rooms as the largest they have is for Four peiople, I;ll be doing thus next year myself. LPP2

Why dont you stay near Honfleur. Its an absolutely beautiful place and would be a brilliant stopover point. Its one of the prettiest ports weve been to in France. Camping La Catiniere is five mins drive and is a perfectly good stopover site and Chateau Le Colombier is fifteen mins away and is lovely.

Try etap hotels I priced up rooms for my family of five for august. Yes you need two rooms but only worked out at around £55
