Nothing to do with the British, just greedy bankers. OH has his Pension from the State of California, who are not capable of sending a direct deposit to a French bank. Every time we transfer money to our French account, which is getting to be once a month, we have to write ourselves a cheque from our Californian account. It takes two weeks to clear and we are charged 35 euros each time.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Re Duinrell although the booking letter says bank transfer I just phoned them up and paid by credit card over the phone, no problem.
Our Italian campsite last year wanted 100 Euro deposit (couldn't take cards over the phon), in the end I posted it recorded (or whatever the European equivalent is) , I thought it was worth the risk to avoid the £25 bank charge. Again was fine.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
