I am not familiar with European edition of Cool Camping, but having looked through the UK edition I can guess that it focuses on a small number of sites illustrated with lovely pictures, I don't want to knock the book at all but my worry is that with such a popular book this handful of sites will full to overflowing at all times?
On a similar subject, I am a fan of the Rough Guides, I enjoy the no nonsense style that tells it like it is rather than the usual travel guides which tend to paper over the cracks, there are usually a few campsites in the local accomodation sections.

Thank you all for the previous advice on this subject.
I have just bought Caravan Europe Vol 1 (2008 edition) for 99p + postage on ebay.
Agree that it is a great book, I have found the first 100 pages or so really useful - a sort of everything you need to know about travelling in Europe - Driving, electrics, sample booking letters, even details of Alpine passes.
I'm an Alan Rogers fan. They do a book just in France and another that covers Europe. I like the fact that it's not just a listing but all the sites have been visited!
My suspicions were aroused when I learned that the Alan Rogers company was now in partnership with Ryanair. Can you imagine that firm delivering anything free of charge ? No, nor me !
The printed guides certainly used to boast that you couldn't buy your way in, but now they have a joint website with ryanair www.ryanair.alanrogers.com/terms.php where item 3.1 states clearly that campsites pay a fee to be included in that website. But the books ? I don't yet know.
When we travelled through Eastern Europe we found "Caravan Europe 2" invaluable, with far more sites listed than in Alan Rogers (which we didn't always find accurate, either.) Our only gripe was that they don't include Bulgaria. Luckily we managed to find information on the internet.
