In 2003 we stayed at Clarys Plage, St Jeans de Monts. Ace site. Very clean with good size pitches. There is evening entertainment so if you want peace and quiet ask not to be near the entrance + disco. Good beach very close. Good pool with slides and lifeguard. Excellent large supermarket which sells everything. Clubs for kids if needed.
Would happily go again but going south this year.
Hope this helps
Jackie

We stayed at La Yole two years ago which has some large pitches on an open grassy area with children's play equipment in the centre. If you book through Eurocamp Independent, the kids can go to the (free) Kids Funstation Club. Ours loved it! The pool area is very nice with a bar/restaurant overlooking it. It also has an indoor pool and jacuzzi. There is a shop with fresh bread every morning and a takeaway(I think). There is entertainment in the evening if you want it - it's not "in yer face", though, if you don't!
By the way, Rinty, if you read this, could you tell me where you got your shade thingy, next to your tent in the picture? Thanks!
La Yole had certainly come out as a possibility but they only had limited dates left for August. Our local Caravan Club Centre are rallying to Peurta Del Sol this year but from the reaviews, I wasn't sure that the site would be want we want - close to the road and possible small dusty pitces.
As a complete change though we are now going in early June but are heading a bit further down to Sequoia Parc, Marrennes. We've been there before and were impressed first time and so thought it was worth a return visit.

Hi we have just booked La peurta del sol and am now a bit concerned over pitch size and the road, we have been to the area a couple of years ago to Les Biches, and dont mind the sandy pitches, but have also been to a Le Brevedent in Normandy which was rural and had a tractor going up and down the road in the early hours we were in a tent at the time and our heads were about 3 feet from the road. this was terrifying.
We are now in a large caravan with awning and have a 4 year old so the road concerns me, are there any areas of the site you can recommend we request to be put?
Thanks
Anne
