THe west coast has a disproportionate amount of sun - disproportionate in the sense that you'd generally be hard pressed to get more sun in the mainland without heading quite a bit further south.

Oddly though after cancelling our holiday in the dordogne, then squeezing a last minute week in PIcardy - we had 27 degrees all week. Lucky I guess.
