If you do get into Arras itself PLEASE make sure you visit the Wellington caves.
An ancient cave system that runs under the whole city and was extended by allied miners so that all the caverns linked up. In the caverns over 5000 troops waited in safety for 'zero-hour' and then used specially dug exits to get into the German defenders lines.
Top-Tip....even if its 30 deg above surface make sure you pack a thick jumper as the system is very (I mean very) cold. I have some pictures of the caves and of WW1 graffiti on someones house nearby....work of the men involved in the battles. Will sort them and pop them onto this thread they may be of interest to you.
