I'd always understood Castels was a marketing group, set up to promote member sites. If that's the case, unless the link twixt Head Office and site worked in real time, it would be possible for a pitch to have gone by the time your enquiry reached the site itself.
So, can't harm to contact a Castels site direct. Should be getting it from the horses mouth then.

The castels site is best used to direct you to the site of choice. You are then best booking direct with site. We booked a castel site for this year and all contact was with the site, not Castels.
Hooray! Having spoken to the site direct this morning I have booked (so i'm told) their last pitch for the week we want. Not really sure why I was unable to book online but they do give a 10 day period to confirm and pay deposit or cancel so maybe this confuses their numbers. Very helpful lady on the phone and we now have a booking so great result.
