We go 2 weeks on Friday on the 04.20 p&o to Calais. I looked at changing to dfds Dover to Dunkirk and all is sold out for that day apart from 2 sailings left and there charging £190 just one way for a car!! I'm going to stick with my original travel arrangement seeing as it only cost £39 out there and hope for the best that everything will be back to normal

Anything can happen - just keep on checking for example operation stack was lifted yesterday only to be re-instated this am owing to 150 migrants storming the channel tunnel in Calais.
We went over at Easter & in May & were fine. My aunt came back via Calais last night & said that it was the worst she
'd ever seen it. So I suppose just turn up early, check your van, then check again.
We came back from the Hook of Holland to Harwich on Friday and there was an hour delay on the day ferry as a lot of extra freight wagons were being loaded to avoid Calais.
We came through Calais this afternoon, booked on the 16.05 P&O to Dover. We arrived at the port at 14.15, absolutely no traffic on the approach road, a bit of a delay at border control, but no longer than any other time, and were put on the 15.20 crossing.

I was also on that ferry today after arriving early! Seemed eerily quiet driving down to the port. Queue not too bad for passport control.
Security were checking boots/caravans/motorhomes after check in, that's anew one on me!

We came back today through the tunnel at lunchtime. No traffic or trucks on approach no queues at check in or at passport control in fact the worst thing was the cloudburst as we were boarding. Even the dartford tunnel wasn't too bad with slow traffic but always moving. All in all a lovely long weekend at Etretat and Honfleur
Well we set of at 9am Sunday morning from Just North of Manchester, M6 (none Toll) M1 even though it was Sunday afternoon, the M25 as per delivered a 2hr delay, major crash just before Dartford, car with roof of etc, 4 lanes down to one, lovely.
Got to Dover for 5pm, so 8hrs to do 310 miles.
Anyway no problem with the M20, no parked lorries just mile after mile of Portaloos, with there doors flapping in the wind.
Ferrys to Dunkirk, were running with a 40 min delay against scheduled time, we were booked on the 6pm sailing.
Staff told me that all DFDS Ferrys were going to Dunkerque, as Calais are still only letting P&O into Calais port.
Which would be fine although at least one DFDS Ferry has been standing idle outside Dover port since last week, as it is to large to fit into Dunkerque.
DFDS staff were fantastic, we even had a meal on the ship as it was so late, total cost £15 for the two of us, and they had full bottles of French white wine on offer at £5! Well it would have been rude not to.
Finally got to our Premiere Classe Hotel for 10pm French time, were the Campanile restaurant had closed for the night, so just as well we had that meal on the ship.
All in all not a bad first day of the holiday as we head South, it will be interesting to see what happens today, DFDS have a meeting with the Strikers, I wonder if our return crossing in a few weeks time, will be just as trouble free as yesterday!

We came home last Thursday via the tunnel. In the past we have had security checks, but not last Thursday! Just the usual passport and gas check and that was it! Quite surprised given the fact that the tunnel was invaded by migrants only a few days before, and again since.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
