Whoops. Has it changed again? I thought the two families were tenting but driving down in 2 vehicles one of which was a T5. Just shows that it's best to put as much info as possible in the initial post of each thread when asking such questions. Some of our brains can no longer keep up ( well mine can't)!

Yep Pickledhud, I gave a copy of my list to one of the blokes at work, who was thinking about starting camping, I may have put him of for life as he never bothered in the end!
To be fair though the list is not as essential as it used to be, had it for 9 years now, I will make minor changes, say when something breaks and needs to be replaced, or I spot a better bit of kit, such as going from plastic kettle to stainless kettle etc.
In fact the list is most useful when we get back, as when we break camp, stuff just get's chucked into any one of the 8 box's, as I am not always in charge of the packing up of the small stuff, Mrs Francais does that using women's logic!
So when we get back, I sort and check everything and asign it to it's correct box.
Then all the box's and cargo bags are ready for the next years trip, all the loose stuff goes in the trailer, and the tent canvas goes in the loft.
The system works well for us, as we only go camping once each year I could not be doing with all the faff, for anything less than a 3 week holiday, and the only place that I would consider camping in the UK would be inside one of the Domes at the Eden project!
I do the same, have a list, but most things are stored in camping box, I do try to keep everything to the minimal that I can, I hate clutter, OCD! Lol.
Hi Francais, don't worry, I don't scare easily!! I've got a couple of boxes, one with medical / toiletries etc, another with cooking stuff etc. I've rather spend the time putting all the stuff together first so I can make it easy to pick up and go rather than having to pack everytime which puts me off. We're planning to go for quite a few weekends camping so want to make the packing as quick as possible.

If your kids are particularly fussy about certain breakfast cereals (as one of mine is), I recommend you bring it with you. I have found that it can be difficult to find some cereals that are common here, in France, eg Weetabix. A lot of their cereals seem to contain chocolate
From our experience, we now bring a selection of food items that we know we like, rather than waste hours in the supermarket trying to guess what is a comparable alternative.

Or feed them croissants, pain aux chocolat and pain aux raisins ( my fave!) for breakfast and leave the cereal at home. It's a holiday, cereal is day to day torture for when you can't eat the nice stuff all the time.
Lol Essexmum, I agree and we do! But I have a 16 year old who doesn't like any of those yummy pastries and the only cereal she will eat is Weetabix (since she was 2 years old!! ), so I've always had to bring it with us.
Don't know where we got her, as the rest of us eat our own body weights in yummy French baked goods when we're on hols

I expect that for those of us who use a caravan or motorhome, we keep a lot of the basic 'hardware' eg cooking utensils, cutlery, plates etc permenantly stocked. Over the season, we also keep some tinned / packaged food in a locker. When we go away, it's just a matter of packing clothes & bedding, and perhaps a book or two.
Off to the continent next month - no idea where - and no lists.
