I would say to anyone thinking of going, go for it while you can, this could go on for years now, variants will always emerge, that's what viruses do, so every time a new variant is discovered the Govt and mainstream media whips it up into a frenzy, telling everyone to hide behind the sofa,if that's the case it could go on forever,so don't hold your breath for 2022.
What I find bizarre is the Governments total distrust for the vaccine, by not taking advantage of the tremendous success of the roll-out, the EU have, and they are way behind us in terms of people vaccinated. We can go to France with two jabs and a test but to come back here we have to go into quarantine for 10 days, so the French obviously trust it.
So now instead of "three weeks to flatten the curve" 15 months later the Govt are going for a Zero Covid policy, which ain't going to happen, enough is enough now, all the venerable have been vaccinated, it's never going to go away completely, we have to live with it now and make our own risk assessments and stop being treated like naughty school children

The issue the govt has run into is that initially they expected the vaccine to be the best thing ever and it would stop people becoming infected.
Instead it merely reduces the effects of the virus and doesn't stop you from catching it. This means that you could have both jabs and still be infectious, thereby causing further outbreaks or even variations.
Let's hope the delay enables infection rates to come down.
I for one am sick of the experts and their graphs etc.
When they came on with "death by PowerPoint" on the evening news,it was swtched off! Had enough of that crap when I was at work in management meetings!
I honestly think the British public have had enough and won't put up with restrictions for much longer, nor will the economy cope.
Another month doesn't affect us much as we can cope with existing rules, but its going to affect the travel and hospitality
We will,have to learn to live with the virus and get on with our lives.
We would normally be heading off to France now, instead we are away in UK.
Still it's sunny and peaceful.

The original efficacy rate for the vaccines was, I believe, expected to be in the region of 60%, anything above that figure (and the efficacy figures are way higher) would be seen as a major success. I don`t think there was ever any expectation that having a jab would stop everyone from infection or transmission.
As an aside, I have just seen the rate of infection figures published by Johns Hopkins University and over the last 2 weeks our rate per million is quite a bit higher than France.
It might be lower if our leaders had put India on there red list earlier like Pakistan. As we are not supposed to travel there seemed to be a large number of "essential travellers returning from India!

Will we won’t we, this year is a no no for us travelling to France. New variants keep coming so until each and every person has a vaccination this virus is going nowhere. So glad we have the Motorhome now . We could sell it at a decent profit but it’s our only escape. Everything has gone up in price for accommodation which is not good for those people with families .
Free testing for tourists in France is to end from the 7th July. We brought our own NHS kits with us, and report results. So the UK test figures include our two each week! All have been negative. Hardly anyone here in this village has been vaccinated, but they have all remained Covid free. We're going off in the caravan shortly, and may be away for my birthday if the weather holds.
As social restrictions in France have been lifted and the fully vaccinated amongst us no longer need a PCR test to travel there and as we expect international travel from Ireland to resume later this month, now really is the time to start planning your later than expected getaway to France.
We’re booked with Irish Ferries Dublin-Cherbourg at the end of July and are both doubly vaccinated. Am we right in taking from the Irish Ferries site that as we live in Northern Ireland we still have to have a pre-departure negative test (same as people travelling directly from the UK to France) but anyone living in Southern Ireland does not need a test?
