Of course you had to pay for parts and labour.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

It doesn’t have to be a policy from one of the clubs or the other. There are other options.

Eurobreakdown will cover breakdowns for both car and caravan.

Staysure is one-off many companies covering cancellation, personal illness and property .

What frustrates us is that the you have to be a member of a club to get the caravan part of the recovery service, why? This means you have to add on the cost of membership to the club that we probably won’t use.

As a matter of interest and none of my business I know, do you use any sites in UK?

Always in the UK.
We tend to go to Adult only, and ones that have fully serviced pitches. We did go to a few club ones when we first started years ago, but found them to be a bit regimental and their facilities in need of an update. However, we are going to Bowness on Windermere in July, which has just had a major revamp and gets good reviews, but they do have fully serviced pitches. We both work full time, so cant get away as much as we would like as work weekend too. We are willing to pay a bit extra to get some nice facilities.

The key to all this to plan your breakdown carefully.

Don’t do it on a Friday evening at the beginning of a public holiday weekend.
Don’t do it in the first fortnight of August when garages are closed for staff holidays.
Don’t expect them to source specialist spares quickly for makes of car they have never dealt with before.

With about 50 European trips under our belt we have tried breakdown insurance packaged with annual insurance as well as free standing policies. But with every policy from every source our best results have always been to use our own initiative to get repairs done locally - and only tell the insurance company afterwards when we send the bill in .

Really
Our Peugeot based motorhome broke down with a handbrake failure just outside Tarbes on a Holiday weekend in France .
Red Pennant arranged for a Peugeot main dealer to stay open after closing time and two mechanics stayed on to strip and fix the handbrake mechanism and get us back on the road
