Incidentally we would be going overnight on the shuttle, can you park up on the services during the daytime for long rest purposes.

Yes but beware security wise, see recent threads on this website such as 'gassed in motorhome', although you should be slightly safer in the bday, distraction robberies etc have been known to happen.

If you're going next year, the route Billy suggests previously will be even easier, as the A28 Autoroute will be open!   This opens in Oct 2005 and will mean a direct autoroute link from Calais to Le Mans - so an easy way to avoid Paris if you're heading from the channel ports to the South West of France. www.alis-sa.com will show you the route (as will a new road Atlas of France - my 2005 Michelin has it as "under construction").

And even easier once COFIROUTE open their stretch from Le Mans to the A10 near Tours. No opening date for this stretch that I am aware of. http://www.cofiroute.fr/cofiroute.nsf/web/a28.htm

In the meantime id use the route suggested by campingmeercat using the A26/A1 to Senlis then cut down to Meaux, then use A4/N104 etc past Evry until I hit the A10.
