We saw a Dutch granny this year with her own pitch, tent, table, sunlounger, camp bed and a view over the lake. She was about 75, I'd say, and exactly where I'd like to be in 25 years time :-)
It took me the whole 2 weeks and a lot of wandering round to detect her kids and grandkids on the other side of the site.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
we are the 60 plus couple that spanish eyes mentioned, and yes,we do like a bit of comfort in our trailer tent, but stictly NO tv or dvd as of yet,and we fully intend to keep on camping as long as we possibly can with a meet at stowford manor farm this weekend(wendy and naiomis birthday bash) and as many more as possible in the new year, which will include a trip to france with"spanish eyes"and her brood, who are very good friends,so to all you so called oldies out there, keep on living the good life!!
We have had three trips this year with our tent - 2 weeks in Loire, 1 week in Derbyshire and 1 week in Devon and from looking at some of these posts we must be ancient - me 61 and OH 73 - Oh and we nearly always take our bikes with us - just for a bit of exercise your understand!
You're only as old as the man you want to feel! Forget all the stupid prejudice, we're planning 3 months touring Eastern Europe and America coast to coast on motorbikes. Aim to do a bungee jump and sky dive. 58 maybe, but I believe I'm 30. Don't give a fig what any one else thinks.
We are 57 and 58 and have just returned from 3 wks camping in Germany and the Czech Rep. We did the Romantische Strasse and Bavarian mountains and went to Prague and had a wonderful time!
We have solved the damp/cold from below by putting sheets of Cellotex wall insulation under our airbeds (we use 2 singles with a n old double duvet on top and a king size sheetand king size duvet - we HATE sleeping bags!!) We have EHU, T/e cooler, lights, travel electric kettle etc. We travel in a Focus est. with top box.. We could never see all we do unless we camped and hope to carry on for many years to come.

When my parents (70 and 77) get back from their latest two week trip with their friends (71 and 76) I'll ask them their opinion! The ground gets lower and harder as you get older though
