It is Balck Horse Fram, you can book via CC website. There is an allocated arae for ferry crossings, if you arrive late the warden leaves info in an envelope on the notice board. There is a nice pub upo the road which does good meals.
------------- DS-There's more to life than football!!!
We always assumed that with Dover-Calais it would cost less, but take longer.
Actually, for the journey we are making it is quicker to drive than take a ferry (because the ferrys are so slow), but it is a lot more driving.
So, if the driving time means you would need a stopover then it becomes a lot slower. If that means you need another days holiday then its probably worth the extra for the long ferry.
We have booked Dover-Calais (using Tesco vouchers) but we might end up paying for a long ferry return leg if it will save us an overnight - which is a hassle as we have to pack 'overnight' bags etc. rather than just shove it all in the car wherever it fits, and means we have to leave the site a day earlier.
just booked the ferry, better get us some passports ha ha.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Harty - just a slight word of warning. Is there any way that your home address could be found out by someone googling you or your posts here or on other sites?
I only ask because you have been very specific about your travel arrangements - over 110,000 people visit UK Campsite - hate to think any of them would be a burglar.
Alternatively you might just want to edit your last post.
Ta very much Christine,good thinking.
I don't think anyone could have traced me,but you never know.Isn't it a shame we have to think that way.
Thanks again ,harty.
now where did I put those passport forms?
HAVE A GREAT TIME! I'm sure you will - we first went camping in France 27 years ago when my eldest son was a six month old baby - and have been back every year since - although some years we've only travelled through on our way to Spain! My sister and her family have been to Du Letty - and enjoyed it very much - take your bikes, it's apparently great for cycling in that area!
For anyone else travelling with children, last two weeks in August, I've done a list of sites which accept Camping Cheques at that time - and some of them offer 'Children go Free'. If anyone's interested I'll post it again on here now it's been updated.
Val, could you do that post again, as I appear to have missed it, and I will be camping the last 2 weeks in August. I haven't particularly looked into Camping cheques before, though there has been lots of talk on here about them. Are they just for France or can they be used in other countries. If they are in other countries, I will be interested in Germany or Italy.
Here's the list with sites which accept CCs from the 10th August, and including those starting to accept them on 20th August (which just allows the 14 days before school returns).

There are more sites offering 'free children' after 20th August, so I can add this if anyone's interested as I do have a complete list of all sites which take CCs in August (in France) but will add Germany and Italy if anyone would like this.
Apparently you can just ring them, and ask for the book. There's another posting on here, which suggested that if you say you are interested, but want to look at the list of sites, they'll send you it free. You can also log into the website www.campingcheque.co.uk for a map of 'our campsites' where you'll find a map of Europe with countries - click on to the country - then you'll see 'dots'. Each 'dot' is a campsite - and click on each one - tells you basic information and gives you access to the site website.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
