I too nearly fell off my chair when I read the post about never having found a decent bottle of wine in France, the mind boggles. We used to have competitions to see how low we could go in price before they became undrinkable, we only ever had a couple and that was below a euro!! I'm hopeful it'll be the same in Italy next week :)
