Val, thanks again...number dials, but then keeps on showing engaged. Will keep on trying. As for ADAC website, a couple of pages translate via google, but not all.
I think I am buying a year's breakdown insurance for my 18yr old RR. .....or is it that I am buying travel insurance for my family (2 adults, 2 kids under 16) and that also includes breakdown cover, as that would be a mode of "travel" for me.
You need Partner Plus cover, which will cover your vehicle, and give you some add-on insurance - but it isn't complete travel insurance, so you should take this out as well. It does cover some events which 'standard' travel insurance will cover, but by no means all.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Got it Guys, thanks a lot. Call Sat morning (European times) on 00 49 94 15 23 44.... leave my name and number, and when the nice lady calls back in English, ask for the Partner Plus and hand over the Euros.
Cant be simpler than that !
(says the man, that can even use google translate!)
That's exactly how we did it! Literally, phoned, left a message, nice Englsih speaking lady phoned back, took details and card details, and two weeks later our documents arrived!
Mind you the documents are in German but I now have a translation available if anyone needs it.

called...a nice german lady called back, saying the reason for the poor answering of calls was because the lovely English lady was off-sick. Anyway, german lady had better English than my german...she's sent me the details and the membership form....PartnerPlus at €98 for both of us....it was 10€ cheaper fro only me, but that does not make sense, so will fill the form out and call her with my cc for the €98 partnerplus.
thanks guys !
Hope you had success this morning.

What are the key differences between ADAC and RP?
There's a big difference between £87 & £327...
ADAC is ANNUAL breakdown cover for Britain and Europe, (not just holiday cover) for you and your partner for as many trips as you like, for as long as you like, for any age vehicle, and trailer, with some add ons such as air repatriation in certain circumstances. However if you broke down with your car and caravan twenty miles from home, when setting off on holiday, where Red Pennant would take you to a garage, and then provide a replacement car if your car was not repairable within the timescales of your holiday, so you could continue your holiday, ADAC wouldn't provide you with a replacement car to continue your holiday, but would take your car to the nearest garage for repair and take you and the caravan home. So it generally suits us oldies who aren't going on a once a year family holiday where the dates can't be changed or where bells and whistles, belt and braces cover isn't required.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
