Sorry for the late reply, been travelling with work last 2 weeks
106 - avoid 101 to 107, this backs onto area where younsters gather in evening - well behaved, but can be a little noisy if you have young kids
177 - nice pitch
201,212,213,214,220,221 - nice area, really shady, close to playground, but not too noisy
262 - bit far from toilets, but quiet shady area - lots of bats at dusk - they don't bother you
319, 336 - next to park, can be noisy not so private
317,325,330,334,348,349,357,358 nice shady pitches in quiet area
366,370,381 - can hear noise from L'Amfora disco (next campsite) - be careful about getting too close to this boundary of the campsite due to this
521,537,543,551,553 - almost no shade, this is the newer part of the campsite, it is quiet, however, much less private as hedges have not grown big enough between pitches, and there are few trees, if you stay here make sure you bring a really good shelter. Some people love these pitches, personally I am not a fan

B pitches are fine, so long as you can fit on! They tend to be in the original part of the campsite and have more character / shade. If you fit on a B pitch, then stay there for the duration and do not move to an A pitch
A+ pitches are closest to the beach, are the biggest pitches and have running water and are close to toilets / showers etc - very nice if you can get one, but expensive

One question for anyone who has been to Las Dunas - I see the pitches have hedges at the sides but are the split in the middle by a hedge?
No, there is no visual division between two back-to-back pitches. Since the pitches are mostly 10m X 10m, apart from a small area at the entrance, we always park the caravan "across" the site, and find that offers some privacy.

Thanks Mattsurf
I had emailed Aquaruius and a lot had changed again - we have secured 358 so hopefully will be suitable for us and our young kids
358 is a good pitch, lots of shade and very few cars going past, it is also close to both playgrounds. The only downside is that it is a bit of a trek to the toilet block, but really not too far. You will probably see a few bats for an hour or so in the evening - they are not at all scary, and kids will love it.

In terms of your route, as you are in Kent, I assume that you can take an early ferry. If you get to France around 9am-10am you could take a leisurely drive to Bourges, (around 5 hours drive from Calais) or try to head 1 1/2 hours further to Riom. Riom is a nicer place to stop than Clermont Ferrand
The following day, from Riom, you should be able to make it to Aquarius by mid afternoon.
If you stop for the first night in Bourges, you could stop over in Beziers if the drive is too far with young children. The A75 between Clermont and Bezziers is very hilly and your average speed may not be that fast.
I strongly advise travelling Thursday and Friday if possible, roads will be empty, service stations will be empty..... however, Saturday is another matter entirely, traffic will be awful all the way, there will be queues at the services, queues at the toilets
