Thanks for a most entertaining thread!!

We have done the Rouen route a number of times and never got it right. We've now given up and take Pont de Normandie and Rennes going West and have had success on the Evreux way going South. This year we're taking a detour via Gournay-en-Bray then Dreux before making it around to the free A20 and the South.

Lots of coss country sightseeing, minimum tolls and plenty of time - we hope!

Rouen has improved dramtically - it was always fairly easy North to South but the other way was a nightmare - however last year they appeared to have put in new road signs which direct you towards Abbeville / Calais.

Previously they'd just had local signs which seemed to me to belong to a different city/town altogether.
