Operation Stack has now been lifted on the M20 coast bound following further problems at the Channel Tunnel and high volumes of freight traffic seeking to use all the Channel Ports. The Port of Dover remains open for business with P&O Ferries operating a full service to Calais and DFDS Seaways operating a full schedule to Dunkerque.

We don't travel until 09/08/15, i was hoping this was all going to be resolved long before then but it looks unlikely, it's just such a frustrating a stressful start to your holiday, I sincerely hope that anyone sailing this weekend/early next week manages a smooth and trouble free crossing.
Trouble is, if you have planned a long route, to arrive at hotels at reasonable times etc, these major delays can totally wreck your itinerary. Fingers crossed!
We set off from home at 6.00 am this morning, and got to the P and O check-in at Dover at 10.31! That's no different to our normal journey!! We used the A2/M2, and there was little traffic, no queue at all down into the port, and at the roundabout at the entrance to the port we were waved through ahead of all the queueing traffic coming from the M20. P and O were running extra crossings, but we wanted to wait for our booked crossing as we hoped to meet up with friends.
There were no 'marauding strikers' or pickets at the port of Calais, and nothing going on that I could see. There was no 'migrant activity' visible either, in or around Calais, and we had a smooth journey to our hotel, with only one glimpse of an (ex) farmers blockade, with a pile of tyres on a roundabout at the entry to the autoroute near Abbeville.
There are an awful lot of worried people around, but in the scheme of things, whilst it may play havoc with your timings, it may well not.
I said on another forum yesterday that we weren't worried, and would just take it as it comes, and fortunately we have absolutely no need to worry.

Thanks so much for your update, I am so pleased that you had a smooth journey with no disruption, I guess it just depends on time and day, I read earlier that someone was sat an hour in stationary traffic on the approach road to the port. We are sailing late at night so I am hoping that we too will have a quiet journey (apart that is from the teenage twins in the back of the car)!!!!

In Brittany at the moment. Did witness the very large shopping retail park ar auray on Friday being blocked by an old tractorand more than one I suspect . Traffic wasn't being allowed on and would be shoppers were sent off round the roundabout in another direction. Also saw a pile of discarded old Tyres and soil that had been used to block a supermarket entrance in vaguely the same area I think but I forget.
There are reports on French news this morning of farmers taking action on the roads in the Alsace area (where our friends are heading) and showing blockades with hay bales and car tyres.

Generally speaking if you are travelling across between late Saturday afternoon through to Monday morning you'll have no problems. Freight movement is much lighter and the port and tunnel are able to clear the backlog.

Jeudi midi, un protocole d'accord a été présenté par le ministère au différentes parties pour mettre fin au conflit entre certains salariés de la scop SeaFrance, Eurotunnel, le propriétaire des bateaux et DFDS, la compagnie danoise à qui Eurotunnel a décidé de louer puis de céder deux ferries. Ce plan de paix est mis sur la table alors que le tribunal de Commerce de Boulogne-sur-Mer a décidé de repporter à mardi sa décision sur la liquidation de la scop SeaFrance.
Une nouvelle scop pour le Nord-Pas-de-Calais
En résumé, ce protocole que le gouvernement souhaiterait voir signé lundi prochain propose qu'une nouvelle scop avec 150 salariés soit créé pour exploiter le Nord-Pas-de-Calais, un fréteur qu'Eurotunnel souhaite conserver. Ce dernier avait exprimé son intention de conserver 120 emplois.
Le danois DFDS s'engagerait à recruter 230 salariés de l'actuelle scop. Jusque là, il s'était engagé à en reprendre 220. Les salariés restants qui ne seraient recrutés ni par Eurotunnel ni par DFDS se verraient proposer une solution dans les trois mois.
