I have a 1994 shogun 2.8td. Bought it in 2008 for £1700 with 83000mls. its now done 131000, gets serviced every 6 months, towed a caravan every year, all year round. My yearly average service costs are £1100, this includes parts & MOT.

I had a daihatsu four track for 14 years.    Towed my caravan around Europe for all that time     When I sold it apart from a few scars it was still in good shape     I wish it was still being made today

My car is a 2009 Kia ceed SW bought in 2014 with 96000 km now has 183000 km and has just passed it's NCT (mot) with flying colours. It is a keeper as no dpf or mass flywheel, it has a big boot good rear suspension and is spotless. It gets an oil change every 15000 km which works out at every 6 months. This year it did need new brake discs but it does 110 km commute a day, trips to the mountains at weekends and trips home and abroad full of gear.

Wow, the 2015 VW Golf Mk7 that I drive, needed both front Discs replacing along with pads, at the end of December 2016.

The car had barely 35k miles on the clock!

I've only had my current car for 3 months!
Before that we had our Ford for about 7 years, but it was staring to cost us a fortune every MOT and service, so it was time to get rid.

Before that I had a Fabia again for about 7 years. Only got rid of that one to get a bigger car to fit more kids in. Big mistake. Should have just got a roof box (for stuff obviously - not kids, well not unless they really annoy me!).

That doesn't say much for VW. I bought my W reg. Volvo V70 in 2009 and I had no idea when the brake disks were last changed. It now has 160k on the clock, of which at least 70k I have done, it hasn't had a brake disk change in my ownership and they are still fine. It has however had 2 new sets of pads, one soon after I bought it, and one for last year's MOT.

Best Regards,
Colin

I got mine changed as they had some scoring on a rear one and a slight ovality on one of the front ones. I replaced in pairs even though the other in each pair was fine. It doesn't look as if I will be getting a Golf any time soon if that is the standard.
