We stayed at a c&cc site at the start of the summer break(again like many i have no choice but to go in school holidays) and it was a lovely site, with a very mixed age/nationality/unit clientel we had no problems at all with noise, and our neighbours commented on how well all the children on site behaved( including ours lol.I think most parents are very aware of their childrens behaviour) Anyway, I got chatting to a very nice dutch lady one morning and she loved England AND the English! In her opinion the Germans are far worse!

In the 7 years we've been going to France we've only heard noise from one lot of Brits once and that was because they were part of a large group. It wasn't a problem, when their holiday was over they left their leftover beer, charcoal and coolbox outside our friends tent, whilst we were out. Hopefully these incidents will remain isolated, it would be a real shame if the yob culture took hold amongst us all whilst camping abroad. Perhaps we've always been lucky and if that's the case I hope we stay lucky.

In France this year in a large supermarket, the checkout lady spoke to one of my kids. When I said she couldn't understand as she speaks English, the lady looked a bit put out. I then said but not from England, from Scotland, the difference was quite noticeable.  "Ah, you are friends then" was her exact words, and we had a nice  conversation with her.

I am guessing that her sentiments were more based on tradition though, and less on any chavvy english that she had encountered!

Also, have to say it's only Welsh flags that I can remember seeing in France or on sites here in Scotland.

don't forget that the French and Scotts were long time allies against the English, goes back a long way of course but, so do some traditions.

I suppose it depends what you look for in friendlyness, personally I don't want to be invited in to meet the familly, but a smile and a bit of help with the language when out shopping is all I ask and I've always had that in France, appart that is from one porter at Garde du Norde, and to be fair if I started talking in French to staion staff at Euston I don't suppose I'd getmuch of a welcombe either!!
