We've been in Normandy for the Tour de France for the past 5 days. Mixed bag of weather, mostly dull and grey but warm, with some outbreaks of sun every now and again, but pouring rain at other times.

This is the end of our 7 week trip. We always come to Frrance for about 6 weeks at this time of year. I know you can't guarantee the weather but this year has been the worst wee've had. Not all bad as we ave had some good weather but it's been hit and miss and very poor compared to the same time last year. We're thinking of maybe coming slightly later next year or even trying Spain

Yep, liddsO, my parents first started taking me to the Cote d Azur back in 1962, I was spoilt really, we would be away for a month usually arriving at the main campsite, at the start of the second week in July.

Then in 1978 at the ripe old age of 18, me and the then to be Mrs Francais, started making our way to the Cote d Azur, for a fortnight campings most years, always July of course.

In all those years, some 50 odd years, we only ever experienced stunning weather, which is not a bad record me thinks.

I bet you're relieved not to have broken that record by visiting this July, Francais!

It's looking a bit grim again tomorrow, with rain everywhere except the south coast. Which suggests it might even be busier than usual on the med!

We're still deliberating over what to do and when to go. Weather does make or break a holiday and it's just unbelievably unreliable in France, this year.

Yep lidds0, I had noticed that temps for the time of year have been well down.

This year we were set to break with tradition and had booked for the last week of June, and first week of July, instead of our usual fortnight in July.

Temps during late June into early July, last year were well into the +30DegC, but this year have struggled to get beyond +25Deg C.

Will be watching the TDF later to day, as they will down the South West not far from the Med.

Yesterday they had a fair bit of rain, although they were up in the Pyrenees mountains, so I guess that does not count.

Our first ten days of holiday from the 2nd July, were in the high to low thirties! (Phew) and yesterday we had our first rain, but it was heavy and rained on and off all day - though we did manage a meal outside, and a swim at the Pont d'Arc without getting wet. Today (in the southern Ardeche) there is blue sky and sunshine again, and even at 8.15 local time, it's warm here outside the caravan listening to the Golden Orioles in the trees overhead.

We should now be back at our 'little place in the sun' but due to complications of family issues and caravan storage we are still 'on holiday' in the caravan. We shall be leaving it here on Saturday, for an annual cost of just 180 euros and they will tow it to a pitch for us when we come back on the 20th August.

Yep Val, we did find +45DegC a little to hot last year, down at Frejus first two weeks of July all the way through, that's why we planned to go earlier this year, but as we did not get there this year we aim to do the same next year, the low to high +30's would be fine for us.

That's a good deal on storage, makes you laugh when you look at what folk have to pay in the UK for storage, a member on here has just been quoted £850! for the year.
