We will be looking to stay in either one of these hotels mid May and then 30th May for one night each. Do you think we need to book these in advance or is it ok just to turn up?

You will probably be ok but it costs nothing to book in advance. They dont debit your card until you check in and you can cancel anytime up to 6pm on the day of arrival without charge.

Worth booking, as they do fill up with business travellers. We had to cancel a booking last year, phoned the hotel direct, no problem, no money taken.

You can book online and get a booking reference. If you have that, you can cancel online too, as Carol said, before 6pm no charge to your card.
