Rivers: Loire, Cher, Vienne, Authion. Loads of lakes around. Almost every commune has what we call a 'Plan d'Eau', which is usually a huge lake on the outskirts of the village where you can fish, swim, bathe etc. Permits can be boufght locally from bars/tabacs or village stores. There are some privately owned waters too so ask your campsite if they know of any when you get here.

HTH.

Thought I'd bump this rather than start a new topic.

We're off to Parc du Val de Loire this summer and I would like to take a crack at fishing in the surrounding area. Anyone got any recommendations or suggestions?

I don't want to go too far as I'm away with the family and I don't want to abandon them ...I just fancy popping there for an hour or so.

In the past, I have fished onsite lakes and I do/did enjoy it - provided it doesn't detract from the Holiday.

Hope someone can help,

John

Interesting... Do you need a rod licence in France like you do here?

Cost depends on the local authority. But they're normally available from either tabac or PMU bar. Sometimes from the local general store, as ours are in Mouliherne.
