Logis du Breuil at St Augustin sur Mer (near Royan, South West Coast) has been descibed as having the biggest pitches in France - I think was in the Caravan Club brochure. Haven't been before but are off there in 3 weeks. Logis du Breuil

In another post someone asked about sites in France which have extra large pitches. Rather than hyjacking that post I thought I would start a new one.
La Garangeoire, St Julien des Landes, Vendee = Massive Pitches
Not always! We booked La Garangeoire many months in advance, told them the size of our van and awning and then found on arrival that we had been allocated a tiny corner pitch, just near the toilet block, where we had great difficulty siting the van and could not possibly pitch the awning! We were a family party of seven, so had paid not just for the pitch but also per person, yet still we had this postage stamp pitch!
We had a walk around the site, witnessed tiny tents pitched on huge pitches and asked why management had given us such a ridiculously small pitch. We weren't alone either; another British family arrived at the same time as us, and also found they could not swing a proverbial cat on their pitch, hence we stood in line to ask for a move (which they wouldn't grant, said they had no other vacant pitches).
We had no option but to leave, but had to argue for refund of our payment, which had been settled in full prior to arrival.
Our pitch at Chateau Des Ormes in Brittany was enormous as were all the other pitches, and it was our first ever experience of camping, it was a real shock when we got to Ty Nadan and got an 'average' sized pitch.
We got a huge corner pitch at Catherine de Fierbois, Loire as well, but some of their pitches looked a bit smaller.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Our experience at Ty Nadan was quite the reverse, we had a lovely, spacious pitch with uninterrupted views of the river. I must admit though that some of the pitches nearer the pool and bar area were much smaller. Best to ask for the newer end of the site, much more open with larger pitches and new loos and showers.

Thinking about Liddenhams post above, I do remember a few smaller looking pitches at La Garangeoire. The larger pitches are in the area where all the pitches are named after animals. If you are booking, ask for a pitch in the animals area (and when they ask you for the dimensions of your unit, make it sound a lot bigger than it is) Our pitch last year was so big we could fit our 8 berth tent, our dayroom, our trailer, a rotating washing line and our car on the pitch and still have room to play badminton.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
