We are travelling through france mid July with caravan and want a few days beach holiday somewhere between Abbeville and Dieppe. Would prefer a smaller site and definitly not a large eurocamp style with loads of ppl on 2 weeks Holiday.  We also have three young kids as well. Any sugestions

Thanks

Tony

Seeing as you've not had a reply yrt, take a look at http://www.valdauthie.fr/ . It's a little past Abbeville and about 6 miles from the coast, but is a superb site.  I was there last week and everyone commented on how good it was, so not just my opinion.

20 Minutes drive from long sandy beach at Fort Mahon Plage and has a good pool onsite.  There are a number of statics, but mainly seemed occupied by French couples. I can also recommend the restaurant!

Hi Tony

I'm not aware of many sites actually on the beach along this stretch of coast, probably because from just past Cayeux-sur-Mer to Dieppe it is mainly chalk cliffs!

The site we have used several times (i.e.we like it! ) is Camping de la Baie at Routhiauville near St Valery sur Somme. It's in the CC Europe book under St Valery.

The site is mainly statics used by weekenders, and is not too crowded. The tourist pitches are quite generous, and the facilities are beautifully kept. The Owner lives on site and there's a small playground for the kids.

There's plenty to do around the Baie de la Somme, and St Valery is quite interesting with lots of good eating especially seafood. There are miles of proper cycle tracks off the roads all round the bay, and you can even put the bikes on the narrow-gauge steam train to the other side and ride back. Also good for birdwatching with reserves to visit etc. Beaches are at Le Crotoy and Cayeux, also Le Hourdel on the point of the bay.
